Is Mount Pilatus worth it in cloudy or bad weather?
Save the summit for clearer weather if the panorama is your priority. The Golden Round Trip can still have value as a transport excursion, but it is not weather-independent.
Pilatus combines a viewpoint with distinctive transport. On the Golden Round Trip, consider the lake journey and cogwheel railway separately from the summit: enjoying those legs can soften a disappointing view, but cloud and rain also affect their scenery.
The cogwheel railway, cableway and boat do not share one universal season or timetable. Check your route and return connections. A forecast improvement late in the day is little help if that route is no longer available; the summit forecast is not a transport guarantee.
