Is Stanserhorn worth it in cloudy or bad weather?
Consider it in changeable cloud if the CabriO ride is part of the appeal and you already hold a Swiss Travel Pass. An open deck is not an indoor fallback for rain.
The open-top CabriO cable car gives Stanserhorn a distinct attraction beyond its summit terrace. That matters in broken cloud, but less in persistent rain or fog. Transport being included with a valid pass does not guarantee an enjoyable view or an available departure.
The summit at 1,898 m can be above a shallow valley fog layer, but there is no fixed fog ceiling it always clears. This is a seasonal excursion, so check the opening calendar before using it as an autumn alternative. The forecast cannot confirm cable-car operation.
